Ancestry DNA Special Not Very Special…

I have been tempted for awhile now to do a genealogy test thinking that this may be the only way to find them. The different comments I have received have suggested I “do an AncestryDNA test”, Jack Rosenthal (the fake “Paul Fronczak”) “found his family and identity” this way, and I “may be Jill” (Jack’ sister).

I listened to Jack’ (Paul Fronczak) story and was quite saddened by it. To spend all that time in hope of finding them only to find that his dad who was involved with the mafia, kept his wife pregnant with no consideration for her or the children’ wellbeing, then dumps them but comes back after his wife who had been keeping the twins caged, wails them down a flight of stairs. Jack got up but his sister didn’t…

With Mothers Day last month and Fathers Day in a week and a half?, I looked at AncestryDNA and discovered their wonderful special for Fathers Day: $69.00! I decided this would be a gift to my Dad, Mom, and I because I can’t go on like this. I am physically alive but I am nobody. I don’t know my family medical history. I don’t know anything. I admit I have been intentionally holding off doing it because of the security and privacy issues (which is what got Ancestry in trouble not too long ago). I made the decision to go with it.

So I called AncestryDNA this past Wednesday June 4, 2018 about 3:30 PM and spoke to a nice young sounding man named Shaun who was more than willing to help me, BUT explained (nicely) that there were only three ways I could order the test:

  1. open a Pay Pal account
  2. apply for a credit card with interest and hope to be granted one, or
  3. ask a friend to purchase the test on their own credit card and then pay them back.

Apparently AncestryDNA does not accept gift prepaid cards. I don’t own a credit card because I don’t believe in being in debt, I have no reason for a Pay Pal account, and I am not asking the neighbors (who don’t know any thing about this) to charge their credit card for me.

So, there I am. Another road block that does not need to exist. All these avenues have some excuse why they cannot do the test that can put an end to the question of “WHO AM I?” Prepaid gift cards are already prepaid and AncestryDNA would have their money, but I suspect they want only regular credit cards because then they can sell the information to other companies and make a profit. I had heard a news story a while back….

To be continued. I got to go, he is waiting for me.
